Guest speakers Jane Knight from Successful Mums and Liz Sewell from Belina GRoW will be sharing their expertise and ways to engage and support women. They will be discussing how they reach out to economic inactive and unemployed women, ways to engage with this audience and the specialist support these women require for sustained employment.Regardless of their background, many of these women share the same practical barriers and feelings of imposter syndrome, lack of direction and risk of long-term unemployment. This practical and informative talk will offer insight and shared experiences of how the employment and skills sectors can continue to help this audience reach their own potential and fully support the UK economy.

About the Speakers

Liz Sewell FIEP is the Director of the GRoW Programme, IEP Fellow of the Year and passionate about women’s economic empowerment. She developed the Grow App, the first Employability App for Women, she is a former CEO of the Charity Gingerbread, she now sits on the Mayor of London’s Skills for Londoners Board and Chairs ERSA London Events. Liz and her team work across the capital supporting mothers further from work, and they are developing a programme for the Over 50s.

Mum of two, Jane is a Fellow and the founder of Successful Mums Career Academy, an award-winning training company that supports mothers to find flexible and part-time employment. Through her work, Jane has made a lasting impact on thousands of women. With a background in FE, teaching and coaching, and part of the Goldman Sachs 10k Small Businesses alumni, Jane has contributed to several Government policy papers, including the Women’s Equalities Paper. Her down to earth and approachable style along with her trusted network has inspired almost 10,000 women through her programmes. Wholly committed to the community, Jane takes part in monthly challenges including mountain climbs and skydives, raising thousands for charity. Connect with Jane on LinkedIn here.

This session is an exploration of the transformative potential of AI in employment support. This session will allow you to discover some of the latest advancements in AI and how these innovations can support a utopian future for the employability sector. It aims to provoke discussion as we delve into some of the potential negative impacts of AI, examining the challenges and risks it poses to the sector and how organisations can play a pivotal role in shaping the future to ensure positive outcomes while mitigating risks.

About the Speaker

Claudine Adeyemi-Adams is the Founder & CEO of Earlybird. She is a multi-award-winning lawyer who read law at UCL and practised at Mishcon de Reya for almost a decade before moving in-house as Sole Legal Counsel at a venture backed startup. She has spearheaded diversity and inclusion efforts and built and ran an employability organisation, supporting young adults from overlooked communities including those furthest removed from the labour market (recognised with HM Government Recognition Award). Claudine also previously founded and built a digital career support platform called CareerEar that supported thousands of career-seekers from overlooked communities to build career confidence.

Claudine now runs Earlybird, user intelligence software powered by AI and voice technology that empowers employability and skills providers to engage and support their participants, efficiently, at scale. Earlybird is backed by Resolution Foundation, Innovate UK and Google for Startups. Earlybird was also a Finalist for Digital Solution of the Year 2023 in the Employability Awards.

Claudine is co-chair of the Employers’ Network for Equality, and Inclusion (enei), a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and advisory board member for Spiral Skills, a youth focused employment support charity. Claudine has been recognised as a Rising Star in the We Are The City Awards (2016), Brummell Magazine’s 30 Ones to Watch (2018), EMpower #1 Future Leader as presented by the Financial Times (2018), 40x40 Black British Future Leader (2022) and Inspirational Business Woman in STEM presented in the House of Lords (2023). In 2024, Claudine received the Freedom of the City of London.
